Technical Overview

Multi Ribbed Belt Numbering System Example: 430J4
430 = Belt effective length in 10ths of inches or 43.0″
   J = Belt cross-section
   4 = Number of ribs
Multi Ribbed Belt Cross Section The three cross-sections of Multi Ribbed belts, in appropriate widths, will handle the needs of the entire belt power transmission field-from tiny fractional horsepower drives to huge (1700HP) drives.
J – Up to 15HP j-cross
Multi Ribbed “J” was developed to assure quiet vibration-free operation on light duty drives with small diameter sheaves and short centers. Up to 15 HP where FHP or A-section V-belts are used.
L – 5 to 50 HP l-section
Multi Ribbed “L” for use on 5 HP to 50 HP drives where A, Band C-section V-belts are used.
M – 25 to 1700 HP m-section
Multi Ribbed “M” for 25 HP to 1700 HP where C, D or E-section V-belts are used.

Features & Benefits

  • An endless belt with a series of parallel V ribs lengthwise around the inside circumference and the strength of the uninterrupted cord member
  • Combines the best properties of flat belts and V-belts in a single rubber belt
  • Needs no spacing between sheave grooves so drives can be smaller and narrower
  • Less load is placed on bearings
  • Back side idlers work more efficiently on the belt’s wide, flat back
  • The ‘J’ section is designed for quiet, vibration free operation on light duty drives with small diameter sheaves and short center distances – for drives up to 15hp where FHP or A section V-belts are used
  • The ‘L’ section is suited to 5hp to 50hp where A, B, and C section V-belts are used
  • The ‘M’ section is used for 25hp up to huge 1700hp drives where C, D or E section V-belts are used
